TAEKWON-DO MOOSAS: AGES 6-8

6-8 years old is a fantastic age to start TaeKwon-Do. Training contributes to the development of motor skills, coordination and balance. It is also a key stage in childhood development where good habits and bad habits are formed in relation to their health and activity.

First and foremost our Moosa classes are fun, ensuring students remain engaged with what they learn. In these classes our fun warm up games are based around key skills for TaeKwon-Do such as balance, speed, agility and coordination. There are many different parts to TaeKwon-Do and our Moosa programme develops the foundations of this fantastic martial art.

  • Warm up games - based on key TaeKwon-Do skills developing speed, agility, balance, coordination and reaction time

  • Basic movement and patterns (forms) - the fundamental movements and techniques of TaeKwon-Do

  • Special technique - working on their ability to perform jumping and spinning kicks

  • Sparring - points based light contact sparring helps develop their confidence and competitiveness

  • Flexibility - developing leg flexibility for kicking in TaeKwondo

  • Playground self-defence - this is very important for their confidence and ability to stand up to bullies

Moosas usually train twice per week, although we can accomodate once per week if a child has other activities that clash.
