GAMES/DRILLS AT HOME
Heart & Lungs Fun Experiment
KUBZ sit still or lie down for 10s and check their heart rate (place their hand on their chest) & listen to their breathing. It will be slower because they are calm and still
Parents/Instructors can then call out some exercises
Running on the spot
50 Fast punches
Super jumps (crouch and jump as high as they can)
Then Kubz have to sit down and check their heart and breathing to see how much faster it is
Ask why it is faster? Because our muscles use oxygen when we exercise, so our lungs and heart work faster to get more oxygen to our muscles
Big Strong Muscles
Kubz perform the following exercises to work the different muscles:
BICEPS CURLS – Kubs PRETEND to lift some bags of messages using their bicep muscles
PRESS UPS – Kubz lie down on the floor and push up to work their pec muscles
SIT UPS – Kubz lie down on the floor on their back and pretend to sleep. Paretns make an alarm clock noise and Kubz have to sit up using their Abs
FROG JUMP SQUATS – Kubz crouch like a frog and jump up on parents count using their QUADS and GLUTES
Q1 What do we do before we spar?
We bow to our opponent to show respect
We bow to our instructor or the referee
We touch gloves or fist bump our opponent to show that we are friends
We put our guard up to get ready
Q2. What are the important things to remember for sparring?
Keep side on
Keep your hands up in a guard
Keep bouncing and moving
When we do a side kick we lift our front leg and hop in
GAMES/DRILLS AT HOME DRILLS
During these drills make sure that the Kubz keep side on with hands up and keep moving
CUSHION/PADWORK DRILLS Kubz bow to parents and fist bump like they would at the start of sparring. Parents hold the pad/cushion for the following techniques:
CHASE THE PAD / CUSHION Parents move around holding the cushion and call out some of the techniques above for Kubz to do
DODGE & GUARD Parents can swing the cushion for the Kubz to practice putting up their guard or dodging out the way of the cush
